Executive Vice President for Communications and Business Development

This is critically important as we seek a new member to join our S+C village: We are not looking for someone whose claim to fame is cranking out a press release in record time. We are searching for a kind, talented person who puts both their mind and heart into every relationship.   • A multitasker who can lead a portfolio of clients while bringing in new business
  • A go-to person who can create compelling proposals, pitches and presentations
  • A veteran crisis comms director with experience in reputation and crisis management for regional and national clients
  • A communications and media training specialist who has successfully hosted individual and group sessions for regional and national clients
  • A leader who can motivate and inspire their team
  • A voracious reader with intellectual curiosity that spans everything from non-fiction and historical biographies to celebrity news
  • An innovator with a knack for capitalizing on collaboration


  • A proven track record of generating new business and sustaining those relationships while leading other client accounts
  • An even-keeled temperament who can work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • An enthusiastic, organized and hardworking person, possessing a can-do attitude that turns challenges into opportunities
  • Experience and confidence to work with everyone from CEOs to elected officials, journalists, non-profit advocates, doctors, teachers, and random people you bump into at a coffee shop
  • A great listener who has outstanding writing, presentation and research skills
  • 10+ years of experience within the public or private sector in communications, public relations, journalism and/or business development
