Cydney Junius is a writer and public relations specialist.
Cydney worked in advertising for VIBE Magazine before becoming a reporter for People Magazine in its Washington, D.C. bureau, where she covered celebrities on Capitol Hill, and in Los Angeles reporting on fashion and features. Cydney also has worked as a police, municipalities and features reporter for The Montgomery Journal newspaper in Rockville, MD, honing her storytelling skills.
Cydney switched gears from journalism to caring for her family until she felt the tug of writing again. She joined The Buckley School as its communications associate, where she was able to blend her passions of writing and children and eventually transitioned into the classroom as an elementary teacher. These experiences inspired her to write and illustrate a children’s book, the first in a forthcoming series, and prompted her to create a parenting blog.
As a volunteer, Cydney has served as Far West Regional Editor for Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and as the public relations chair for her local graduate sorority chapter. In addition, Cydney has led writing workshops for middle and high school girls at the Empowerment and Engagement Conference for Young Women in Los Angeles. She holds a B.A. in print journalism from Hampton University and a Master’s in creative writing from Antioch University.
